Thank you for visiting my website. Discover Hampton Wick, a village in South-West London, U.K. My family moved here in 1912, when they built and ran the Crystal Film Co. silent movie studio in the High Street, which was used by the Master Films production company. I give reports on the London Openhouse event and Kingston Heritage Open Days. There are photos of local sights including the historic Brooklands Race Track. I introduce various technical subjects, mainly involving websites and elecronics and including javascripts and universal remote controls. My thanks go to The London Borough Of Richmond Upon Thames for providing the broad-band facilities that make this website possible.
Ah! Hampton Wick! It is from here that Eisenhower mounted the D-Day landings against Normandy, France. The plans of the following men and their staffs, conceived at Camp Griffiss, in this quiet spot, were destined to secure the future of the free world:- General Eisenhower - Air-Marshal Tedder - Admiral Bertram Ramsey - General Montgomery - Air-Chief-Marshal Leigh-Mallory. Across the river Thames is situated Kingston-Upon-Thames, where seven Saxon kings of England were crowned:- Edward The Elder - Athelstan - Edmund -Edred - Edwy - Edward The Martyr - Ethelred The Unready. In Kingston, fighting aircraft of both World Wars and after, were designed and built, including:- The Sopwith Camel - The Hawker Hurricane - The Hawker Harrier, jump-jet.
